Thursday 1st March 1945

It rained all morning. Did odd jobs till lunch time & scrubbed the stools. Did a bit to the tree till 4.30. Milked.

Friday 2nd March 1945

We got 4 loads of Swedes today and have cleared a good bit of the field. I went to a Y.F.C. Brain’s trust. It was awfully good. Went to a dance at Slade. Not too bad.

Saturday 3rd March 1945

A beautiful clear frosty day. Got a load of hay, some cabbages and oat straw and a load of Swedes before lunch. Got a big load after lunch. Saw Mervyn in our plough ground. Bill James broke down outside our gate & Offy, Albe and Mr W. came down. Peggy sprained her ankle running for the train this morning. I finished a sleeve and sewed my jumper up. George arrived by the 8.30 Wells bus.

Sunday 4th March 1945

It was rather cold this morning. I cleaned out before breakfast. Went round to Mervyn’s for some potatoes, he was in the plough ground so I had to fetch him. Finished off a few odd jobs and went up the road. Offy, Alb & Mr Wareham were teasing me. Helped hitch-out the horse. Mended, had lunch. Did some more mending
