Mum’s House

This page is so that everyone can follow the progress of the work on the outbuilding affectionately known to us as ‘the Turtle’s Head’ which shall from now on be referred to as Mum’s House.

The aim is to provide a separate self contained annexe within the building comprising of an open plan living area incorporating lounge, small kitchen and dining area, along with a separate bedroom with en-suite shower room. There will be access to the house from our driveway via a gently sloping path to the front door which is situated halfway along the side of the building which faces our house. We are hoping to be able to put a sitting area outside the patio doors next to the field as well as a small patio area accessible via a French door from the bedroom.

There will be a large portion of the bank and current lawn dug out to make this area bigger and level, the final landscaping is going to be decided and achieved as we make progress with the work and depends on how much money is available. The garage border will remain and hopefully Mum take over the tending and planting of this as well as having greenhouse space and raised beds for flowers and vegetables in the current veg garden if she wants. In fact some of the ‘wilder’ areas will no doubt receive the benefit of her gardening expertise.
