Snoop Doggy Dog!!

Hello!

My name is Idris I am a 8yr old Rottweiler dog, I was born on 9th March 1999 in Leicestershire. I had a brother and about 8 sisters, there were chickens and cats at my home too and I was introduced to them and got used to them I was also allowed into the house to meet the people and watch their television which I really enjoyed. My kennel name is 'Beawize Moments of Cheer'.

When I was 14 weeks old I chose some people to go and live with (well they chose me). Their names are Julian and Jacky and at that time they lived in Worcester. They are my pack leaders, Julian is the Alpha male and Jacky is the Alpha female. They had a tortoiseshell cat called Tig who used to spit at me but I was only trying to be friendly, in the end we got on okay.

Whilst I was a puppy they took me took a great school once a week where I met loads of other puppies and learned to socialise. I was taught to sit and fetch and do lots of tricks, it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it as I usually got a tiny piece of cheese or a big cuddle and praise if I did something right. I knew when I was getting it correct because my people carried a small box that made a ‘clicking’ sound if I did it right, I knew that when I heard that click I would get fuss or a treat so I tried really hard. Some of the other puppies weren’t as clever as me but perhaps I was just greedier and more eager to please! I was a big puppy and used to scare the other puppies and their owners, sometimes we had socialising off the lead and I would run to play with the others but they all ran off so in the end I just had to watch or I caused mayhem, it wasn’t my fault I just wanted to join in the games.

My pack leaders became like a Mum and Dad to me and that is what I call them now.

They gave me a lovely plastic bed to sleep in with my own duvet and I always had water and a couple of yummy meals of tripe every day, my Mum used to complain about how it smelled but it was no worse than my Dad’s bottom burps so she put up with it but when I was about 7 months I went on to lovely complete biscuits and some meat so we were all happy.

We went for a walk on the lead every day as we only had a small garden and the walks were always on the roads around the estate where we lived, sometimes we would go out into the countryside and go into the fields where I would be let off the lead as long as I came back which I always did. I went for an operation as soon as I was old enough and came out a couple of ounces lighter and things didn’t quite smell the same or seem so exciting for a while but I‘m used to it now…. Girls! What are they for? I don’t know what all the fuss is about!

When I was about 9 months old my Mum wasn’t very well so she had to give up work and she and Dad decided to move to Cornwall.

We went to live in Bude

We rented an old coastguard cottage by the canal in Bude with a lovely enclosed garden and a nice sun room for me to sleep in. Tig really enjoyed being here and explored the entire garden every day, we thought she might try to run away, Cat’s are a bit thick like that, but she didn’t.

Every day we went for walks on the beach and over the cliffs and we were very happy. We spent the millennium in the cottage but by March we had bought a brand new house just up the hill on the cliff tops. We couldn’t see the sea but we could hear it roaring and when we went over the road through the gate we were out on the cliff tops, we had hours of fun here and sometimes still go back there for walks, the sea always looks different sometimes roaring and stormy and other times quiet and still. By this time I was getting quite a big dog but my Mum and Dad decided they would like a sister for me. They went to a Rottie kennels to ask about having a puppy! God I was so excited! Just think a tiny fluffy baby Sister, they took me with them as I love travelling in the car. When they got there they could have put their name down for a puppy but there was a nine month old girl called Lucy there who was originally from the kennels but had come back to be re-homed because she was always escaping and getting into trouble and her old owners couldn’t cope with her. Mum came out with her on a lead and we all went down the lane by the kennels for a walk, we got on well and she seemed very nice and shy but she was huge and had big dangly ears, much bigger than mine and wasn’t at all what any of us had originally envisaged. Mum and Dad were so pleased with her that they decided to go back the following week and pick her up to come and live with us.

Lucy was really funny at first she would cower if you went near her, she was ALWAYS trying to get on the furniture and she chewed everything. She wasn’t house trained and used to go to the loo in the conservatory where we lived, I was worried in case Mum and Dad thought it was me. Mum and Dad were very patient and kind to Lucy and trained her every day, eventually she was house-trained and stopped chewing things and she slept in her bed, she still rolls over on her back and looks pathetic if you speak to her but that’s just girls for you.

Eventually Mum and Dad decided to move to the countryside so we could have a bigger garden to run around in and more lawn to wreck!! We moved to the house where we are now, it's called Sunnyside, we love it here. On the next webpages I will tell you about Lucy, Mum and Dad and the other animals we live with.

Love and Woofs Idrisdog xx
PS I got poorly and I was put to sleep on 4th November 2007 I'm now in a place where I can chase rabbits all day, you never know I may even be able to catch one and snuffle it one day! Don't be sad I had a good life and had lots of fun.
